RELIGION AND SCIENCE

Religion is belief, doctrine and preaching wwhich may be devined as a way of life।and science is an attempt to discover future occurance based on particular fack about the world and we can also say science is the result of experiment and observation over the fack of this world।mostly done by the trained and competent person।

Religion and science are two important aspects of social life.but beside it,the appearance of the science side by side whith religion causes a conflict betwen them.so that from this capther we want to explore about religion and science to avoid a convlict bout them.

Religion and Science

Religion and Science are two important aspects of social life. The religion in this regard has been too dominat over the secience in the history of human being. But during the last three hundreds years the latter has come into prominence .The appearance of the science side by side with the religion couses a conflict between them, and to find out wheter they can usefully cooperate with each other can be examined through their position and fundamental approach to life or as methods adopted by them.

Science as Bertrand Russell has defined is an attempt to discover future occurrence based on particular fact about the world. The basic process of this scientific reasoning of from specific question to alternative answer and finally, tested in specific way , whether by deducative or induvtive methods the maind point in this regard is that science always specific.

On the other hand, science is also the result of experiment and observasion over the fact of this world which mostly done by the trainedand com[eten person so then it my be said that science is impersonal furthermore, science does not concern with good or evil, beauty or bedness with which the religion concerns

Religion is belief, and doctrine and preaching which may be defined as a way of life the characteristics of religion basically opposed to those of science . for religious persons who have an insight which to common man

Religious experience are fundamentally different from the natural observation and exsperiment of science again religious knowledge is involved knowledge in which the commitment of personality and some felling is necessary apart if the knowledge is to exist at all. It may be said that religious knowledge is very different from impersonal scientific one merevore if science is amatter of fact religion is not. Is claims insight in to good which is not human theough scientific security and it claims that in religion theree is strange an uniquely infinite from of the devine knowledge in which the devine being is not an object to be examined or definined. In human affairs this devine relationship is in complete contras to the attitutade of science.

The root of this misunderstandingi is undoubtedly alack of knowledge of teology among the scienctis and a lack of science among the teoligiants . often the theoligian’s idea of science is derived from little pamphlets newspaper which draw no distinction between what is observed and what is conjectured or between what is established and what is hypothetical.

Likewise the scienctist’s idea of religion is some times a compound of nursery religious stories vaguely remembered from the distant past and perhaps some sickeningly native pious pamphlet he has encaountered so the misunderstanding between religion and science are due tu mutual lack of knowledge and make statement that are not justified by the evidience.

No religious man can look back on the writings ans actions of many theologians with unmitigated satisfaction and scirntist will readly admit that they have been just a quilty.

Instead of coming into conflict with each other religion and science should co operete and help each other. The genelaral imperession on the spirit of science opposed to religion is unfortunate and untrue. In fact both can be of assistance to each other.

In the future there is no doubt that most of religious beliefs are such that science can have little effect on them. But in a more modest way science can be of some assistance to religion for example all religion teach to know god trough creted things. All thing reflect in some way the perfection of god they be r the imprint of they make now science can help us to learn more a bout them, and thus learn more about god. Science can also be of much assistance to religion in another way. All religious commend to feed the hungry, to give drink to the thirsty and to cloth the naked and is obvious that science anables us to do this much more efficiently than our forefathers could, futher more, modern methods of communication from printinr and radio to greater audiences than could be reached before they were invented.

The main way in which religion can help help science is by what it does for the individual scientis is man. And also by providing the climate of thought necessary for its growth. During the middle ages the main intellectual effort was concertraled on philosophical and theological problems, and so the development of science was rather slow, neverthales many important advances were made by men such us Robert grosseteste, bishoup of Lincoln who did much to found exsperimental science as prof whitehead said, The middle ages formet one long training of the intellect in the sense of order, the gretest contribution of medievalist to the formation of the science was inculcate the enexpugnable belief that every detailed occurrence can be corrected with is antecedents in aperfectly definite manner, exemplifiying general principles.

At present it is essential that religion and science should cooperate because neither scoence nor religioun alone can solve the modern problems all the claims made on behalf of science are admitted, but no one can deny the fact that the command of the nature has been put into man’s hand before he has learnt how to govern himself.

At the present time such spirit of selfilsness and hostility are being shown by the two power blocs that the western world along with many of its fine achievements in the domains of human culture many be consumed in the holocaust of strife and destruction it is clear that solution of thes problems cannot be achieved by poiticiants for the represent the egoism nations of groups, and people saturated with egoistic ideals cannot look upon a problem from higher point of view neither can such problems be handled by the scientis who are usually immersed in problems oftheir own fer removed from life.

Religion can come to our help, but in order that it may again become a living force, it is necessary that religious leaders should take the help of science, and study existing religious knowledge as science. Moreover thes studies should be suppimented by a scientific study of the problems of human life, careful of human mind, in fact as Spinoza put it not to laugh or weep over actions of men but simply to understand them and to cotemplete their affections and passions, such as love hate anger arrogance pity an all other disturbances of the soul not as vices of human nature but as properties belonging to it in the same way as heat cold strom and thunder belonging to the atmosphere.

For these though troublesome are yet necessary and have certain couses through which we may come to understand them and thus by costemplating them in their truth gain for our mind such much pleasure as by knowledge of things that are pleasing to sense।
